The United States has never raked at the top of international education test. A report recently published by Harvard University's Program on Education Policy found that students in Latvia, Brazil, and Chili are making gains in academics three times faster then American students. And those in Hong Kong, Poland, Germany, Lithuania, Portugal, Columbia, Slovenia, and Liechtenstein are improving at twice the rate.

                 IMPORTANT FACTS  ABOUT YOUR CHILD

I read an interesting article written in the Franklin Institute Resources for Science Learning. The article said, "Mental Stimulation Improve Brain Function" That is what caught my attention.  The article went into detail explaining before birth you created neurons, the brain cells communicate with each other at the rate of 15 million per hour. When you emerge into the world, your 100 billion neurons, were primed to organize themselves in response of the new environment - no matter the culture, climate, language, or life style.

During infancy, billions of these cells intertwine into the vast network that integrated your nervous system. By the time your are four or five years old, your fundamental cerebral architecture is complete.

Until your early teens, various windows of opportunity opened when you could most easily learn language and writing, math and music, as well as the coordinated movements used in sports and dance. But at any age you can - and should - continue to build your brain and expand your mind.

After reading this article I could not help being disappointed in all of us. We are letting our children down.
